ABOUT THE SPRAY TANNING EXPERT
I’ve always had a passion for beauty and it started with my fascination with makeup. Like most teens did back in the day, I raided my mothers’ makeup stash and played dress ups, even if the foundation shades didn’t match or lipsticks were too dark.
And while I dabbled in many things after high school like interior design, childbirth education, fashion styling, coaching, beauty (and the list goes on), I always found myself coming back to beauty.
I started working as a makeup artist part-time but after having children realised the hours required made it hard to grow a business. That’s when I decided to add spray tanning to my services. I knew I could do this around the kid’s routine and in the evenings. What an exciting time it was. Tanning was new and there were not many people offering it. It was something reserved for the rich and famous so it was almost like we were sharing a celebrity secret.
I set up a tanning studio from home and through word of mouth ( Facebook or Instagram weren’t around) I slowly but steadily built up a client base part-time while juggling 3 kids.
I reached a pivotal moment when I realised I could really do something more with my business and brand. At that point, I had built a strong reputation, with clients travelling across Sydney for a spray tan. I was getting asked to tan cheerleaders, dance studios and even had brands reach out to me wanting me to tan influencers and celebrities on their behalf. I became an educator for a leading tan brand and had comprehensive training to master that role.
I decided to start learning more about business, marketing and the industry and establishing myself as the ‘spray tanning expert’ came naturally.
During this time, I realised there were many gaps in the industry and unfortunately, the tanning industry has always been treated as an afterthought with both clients and technicians not taking this work seriously. So it’s been my mission ever since to create a training and business model that supports future tanning experts and allows them to build a sustainable business.
Since launching the Blushaé Studio & Academy in Bella Vista, Sydney, my goal has been to set a standard in tanning education and service ensuring a professional, inclusive experience each and every time.
My vision is to continue to grow the Blushaé brand by delivering exceptional service, coaching passionate tanning artists and staying at the forefront of the latest product and business development.
When I started tanning all those years ago I never imagined I would take my tanning business this far but it’s always been my belief that no matter what you decide to do, you go all in and be the best you can be. When you’re part of people’s lives whether it’s a birthday or a wedding, a dance competition or a first date, you start to realise the importance this beauty treatment plays in people’s lives. Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand and being able to make someone feel a little better about themselves, is so very rewarding.
I’m excited to grow and continue sharing this journey with my clients, students and artists and hopefully, I can inspire others to believe in themselves, never give up on their dreams and aim for the stars.
